While it shares its carbon-fibre monocoque tub with the Venom F5 Coupe, the Venom F5 Roadster boasts a removable carbon-fibre composite roof. The lightweight single-piece roof is fully insulated against the elements and lined with soft Alcantara upholstery. Open to the sky, the F5 Roadster elevates the sensation of speed and allows even more of the Fury V8’s intoxicating engine note to permeate the cabin – adding a sprinkling of respect-inducting fear. As a result, the Venom F5 Roadster is the fastest and most visceral open-roof vehicle on the planet.
The new transparent panel, set directly over the powerplant, spotlights the massive twin-turbocharged ‘Fury’ V8 engine in all its glory. Its engineering was no simple task – Hennessey’s engineers called upon technology reserved for use in jet aircraft. The sizable glass panel may withstand aerodynamic forces exceeding 300 mph and temperatures beyond 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit (540 degrees Celsius). The clear window is encapsulated within a removable carbon fibre engine cover that features intricately milled heat extraction holes that match those in the rear bumper.
