For some, a Maserati has to be all about phenomenal performance.
Look no further than the Grecale Trofeo, which delivers devastating acceleration without ever sacrificing the comfort you would expect of an SUV. At the heart of this version is the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 Nettuno engine first used by the MC20 super sports car, which has been tuned to deliver 523bhp and dispatches 0-62mph in a breathtaking 3.8 seconds. Air suspension is fitted as standard on the Trofeo, while the dedication to delivering an exhilarating experience is emphasised by the fact this is the only Grecale available with the CORSA driving mode, which brings sharper responses and faster gearchanges. This extreme focus is reflected by 21” alloy wheels, special sports exhausts and carbon fibre inserts on the front and rear bumpers, and on the side skirts. And the launch colour of Giallo Corse combines yellow and mica for a bold look.
Inside, all versions of the Grecale come with four screens – the classic cluster and a new central 12.3” panel, a smaller 8.8” comfort panel with extra controls and a new digital clock. Classic Italian craftsmanship is highlighted in the materials and finishes: the dashboard stitching takes up the double saddle style, as in the Levante, Maserati’s other SUV. Tremendous attention has been paid to the detailing, such as the laser-cut metal grilles for the new Sonus faber sound system’s tweeters and mid-range speakers, or the chrome-plated finish of the digital smartwatch, the central air vents and the drive mode selector. The Trofeo adds a defiantly sporty flavour, with high-performance materials such as exposed, three-dimensional carbon fibre and perforated leather, paired with chevron motifs that emphasise the car’s dynamism. And yellow, red, dark red or ice stitching contrasts vividly with the black leather.
